Auditory and visual toys typically appeal to children on the autism spectrum. Many find art, music, math and science interesting. On the flip side, children on the autism spectrum tend be highly sensitive to texture and avoid tactile toys. Imaginary and imitative play rarely appeal. Self-regulation of emotions and social interactions can be challenging, which limits group play. These sensory toys appeal to autistic children.
